How to Put on Dog Costumes
It can be difficult to get your dog to wear their costume the first time around, as the puppy or dog might put up a resistant to wearing it. There are a few guidelines to follow that will encourage your pet to dress up.
1. Select a Costume Your Pet Likes
There is always a first time for everything, for a pet that have never worn costume before it could be a challenge to get them to wear one instantly. Pick a costume that does not mess with the state of mind resulting from feelings.
2. Lay Your Pet Close to the Costume
Get your pet accustomed to the costume by placing it close to the pet, this will allow the pet to sniff the costume. Getting used to it and familiarising your pet to the costume will ease or erase any negative impression the pet may have about the costume.
3. Wear the Costume on Your Pet
Put your dog’s leg through one arm hole and then praise and treat your dog. Take it off, praise again (but don’t give your dog a treat), then put it back on, praise again and give him a treat. Ensure the costume is comfortable and the pet moves around freely. Note, what you aim to achieve is to balance the praise and treat given during the process.
